Bad weather? Wrong Clothes!

December 23rd, 2008

I am in Shanghai right now and it is very cold here… only -5 degree at night!

We modern people seems to have uneasy relationship with the weather… many of us would complain constantly about it - it’s too cold, it rains so hard, it’s too dry or too humid… We seem to forget the fact that our ancestors have experienced something far worse, and that human have been to adapting to the changing (and sometime harsh) weather during the course of evolution.

With the advancement of technology, we take things for granted - hot water, comfortable shelter, heater… and unconsciously we expect the external environment to suit our needs (whether on physical or emotional levels), forgetting that it is us that need to adapt to the environment. Just as wise man Billy Connolly said, ” There is no such thing as bad weather- only the wrong clothes.”

I met up with my guru (Tibetan monk) lately and was impressed (as usual) by the adaptability & resilience of these sturdy people. Always gracefully accept whatever comes to them  - to them, there is no bad thing, just a series of impermanence to embrace.

It takes lots of wisdom to realise this simple truth in life…

Last night, I dreamt of a spiritual master…

December 15th, 2008

I had an amazing ( & strange) dream last night!

I dreamt of myself in India, and was in rush to attend the teaching of a spiritual master after sneaking out to do some work (!) during lunch break. I recall feeling myself running like crazy, but still managed to grasp an empty supermarket shopping cart (!) along the way.

After a while I noticed that having this empty cart is really a hindrance for me, given the fact that I am in a hurry (and not really doing shopping!), so I left it at the corner of the street. Unfortunately this gave a policeman an excuse to arrest me. I was so stressed out and tried to explain to him that this is a minor “crime” and I am really in a hurry. I even tried to convince him to come along to the teaching. I knew it ( in the dream) that I was going to miss part of the teaching, but somehow I knew deep down that whatever teaching I need will come to me at right time, and there is nothing to be missed…

Finally, I did manage to arrive at the teaching hall but the teaching was already over (of course), but people told me that indeed I missed very little as it was a practice session. It’s indeed a relief to me..

What’s the meaning of the dream? I asked myself. I am not a dream analyst, but somehow I really felt the peaceful undertone of this dramatic event…I guess part of me feel somehow protected, and everything is going to be OK no matter what.

Also, it may warns me against being attached to things in life that seemingly useful but turns out to be a hindrance, just like the shopping cart in the dream! Focus on something important and let go of those unnecessary is the key…

Louise Hays

December 8th, 2008

I went to a DVD shop in Shanghai and found a copy of Louise Hay’s “Your Can Heal Your Life”.I am a bit surprised by it, yet feeling quite happy that more and more people (esp.in mainland China) are exposed to this type of movie/information.

I am a big fan of Louise - I always admire her distinctive presence. She has gone through a very uneasy childhood, yet she not only managed to heal herself, but also inspires tens of thousands of people…One thing that I learnt from her is that the true healing of uneasy emotion came from within - the true self love and acceptance. And I hope more and more people can do that…

Welcome to Elsie’s blog!

December 8th, 2008

Dear friends

Welcome to my blog. I am very excited about the opportunities to share with you my  thoughts, experience and some of the interesting stories about my clients!

Quite frankly, I found writing a blog quite challenging – athough of course I talked to & shared my secrets and vulnerable moments with my close friends from time to time, but never openly. I also have never written a journal in my life! When I look back, almost all  of my writing has been study or business related – well well, it’s about time to do something new right?

In this blog, I will share my experience as Breakthrough Coach, hypnotherapist and trainer - especially about my wonderful clients who are committed to create a major shift and take real control of their lives… I hope you can all get some inspiration from these encouraging stories of these men and women, as much as I did!

Love,
Elsie
